ስለ አርቲስት/ስብስብ

The Richmond Symphony performs, teaches, and champions music to inspire and unite our communities. We amplify our region’s unique vitality by making music integral to the lives of those living, learning, and working here. Founded in 1957, we are the largest performing arts organization in Central Virginia, annually welcoming approximately 200,000 community members to over 200 performances. The Richmond Symphony includes an orchestra of 69 professional musicians, a 150-voice chorus, and a 200-member Youth Orchestra Program. Through our three strategic commitments of Advancing Artistry and Innovation, Working as a Community Partner, and Creating a Learning Organization, we aim to change lives through the power of music.

Programs are designed to suit the needs of diverse audiences and include favorites from both the Symphony’s classical and pops repertoires.

For many presenters, a concert by the 41-member Richmond Symphony Chamber Orchestra is an attractive option. The smaller orchestra size is based on the traditional classical-sized orchestras of Haydn through Brahms, allows for greater flexibility in venues, and has a lower fee than the full orchestra.

የትምህርት ፕሮግራሞች

Richmond Symphony’s Youth Orchestra Program is Central Virginia’s premier orchestral training program. Students in grades 3 to 12 from across the region have opportunities to participate in five ensembles that provide beginning to advanced musical training.

Educational Ensembles bring Richmond Symphony chamber ensembles into students’ own learning environments. Musicians bring music to life, performing for nearly 20,000 students at 100 schools across Chesterfield County, the City of Richmond, Henrico County, and New Kent County.

Hopkins-Eggleston Discovery Concerts are experiential learning opportunities that bring over 5,000 regional students to the historic Carpenter Theatre at the Dominion Energy Center. These full orchestra performances are specifically designed to align with the K-8 Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), highlighting the intersections of music, science, and language. Prior to the concerts, teachers receive complementary classroom materials that help contextualize the program for students.

Companion Courses enrich the Symphony Series experience by providing key historical context behind each of the concert program’s works and composers. This virtual lecture series is free to the public and can be accessed on the website: https://www.richmondsymphony.com/ticketing/companioncourse.
